YESS! strives to make a positive impact on vulnerable youth in our community. Here’s how; We’ll wrap our arms and a myriad of support services around vulnerable youth to mitigate and/or resolve their social, emotional, educational and/or environmental challenges, and through our collaborative efforts and the expertise of other youth serving organizations, youth will experience an increased sense of safety, well-being, and self-sufficiency.
YESS! of Charles County Inc. was established by the Executive Director, Sharon L. Groves, in May of 2003 to provide the framework for a unique “Initiative to Work” training program. At that time, the mission was to promote education, training, community service, and employment for at-risk youth, ages 15-21 years old, in Charles County, Maryland. In 2015, YESS! established an employer advisory network to foster community awareness and employment opportunities for youth. In 2017, YESS! established SONYA’S HOUSE, a temporary shelter and Basic Center Program (BCP) serving Runaway and Homeless Youth (RHY) up to 18 years of age in Charles County, St. Mary’s County, Prince George’s County, Calvert County, Maryland; and Washington, D.C.. 2021 after discovering the need of young women aging out of Foster Care, after graduating local Job Corps and simply homeless with no residence, the Transitional Living Program (TLP), was established.
